| 英文 | And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim. |

| 英文 | And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abidah, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah. |

| 英文 | And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac. |

| 英文 | But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country. |

| 英文 | These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations. |

| 英文 | And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, an hundred and thirty and seven years: and he gave up the ghost and died; and was gathered unto his people. |

| 英文 | And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brethren. |

| 中文 | 以撒娶利百加为妻的时候正四十岁。利百加是巴旦亚兰地的亚兰人彼土利的女儿，是亚兰人拉班的妹子。 |
| 英文 | And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padanaram, the sister to Laban the Syrian. |

| 中文 | 以撒因他妻子不生育，就为她祈求耶和华。耶和华应允他的祈求，他的妻子利百加就怀了孕。 |
| 英文 | And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived. |

| 中文 | 孩子们在她腹中彼此相争，她就说，若是这样，我为什么活着呢（或作我为什么如此呢）。她就去求问耶和华。 |
| 英文 | And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD. |

| 中文 | 耶和华对她说，两国在你腹内。两族要从你身上出来。这族必强于那族。将来大的要服事小的。 |
| 英文 | And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger. |

| 中文 | 生产的日子到了，腹中果然是双子。 |
| 英文 | And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb. |

| 中文 | 先产的身体发红，浑身有毛，如同皮衣，他们就给他起名叫以扫（以扫就是有毛的意思）。 |
| 英文 | And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau. |

| 中文 | 随后又生了以扫的兄弟，手抓住以扫的脚跟，因此给他起名叫雅各（雅各就是抓住的意思）。利百加生下两个儿子的时候，以撒年正六十岁。 |

| 中文 | 以扫对雅各说，我累昏了，求你把这红汤给我喝。因此以扫又叫以东（以东就是红的意思）。 |
| 英文 | And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom. |

| 中文 | 雅各说，你今日把长子的名分卖给我吧。 |
| 英文 | And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright. |

| 中文 | 以扫说，我将要死，这长子的名分于我有什么益处呢。 |
| 英文 | And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me? |
第33段
| 中文 | 雅各说，你今日对我起誓吧。以扫就对他起了誓，把长子的名分卖给雅各。 |
| 英文 | And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob. |

| 中文 | 于是雅各将饼和红豆汤给了以扫，以扫吃了喝了，便起来走了。这就是以扫轻看了他长子的名分。 |
| 英文 | Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright. |
